Region I Reply to D Lochbaum questions/email re: Indian Point SIT
My questions.
1. Every door in YOUR HOUSE is waterproof.
when it rains they do not fall apart, do they?
2. 480 VAC switchgear, what division classification is it?
DIV 1 (Safety - essential)
DIV 2 (Safetyrelated- essential)
Non-Div (Non safety)
1a Are there any other switchgear in that room? What division are they?
1b. Are there any other switchgear rooms in adjacent rooms where the flood water can enter? What Div are they?
3. On 3rd page there is discussion of drains available to mitigate flooding. That is why they did maint and test.
Then the 6th bullet near bottom of page says "No design-basis"
Then next bullet item says 100 gpm,
That is conflicting double talk.
The design basis is to drain at least 100 gpm.
4. To determine if a drain pipe is blocked you need to determine the volume of the drain pipe, pipe size, calculate pipe cross sectional area, times pipe length. Then put down 2 or 3 times that volume.
5. 7500 Gpm!!! how is a 100 gpm drain going to handle that?
6 7500 gpm for how long? 10 minutes?? How will they know or detect it? How soon can they react and stop it?
7. All that water, 7500 gpm x 10 min = 75000 gal, has to go somewhere. Where? What is the elevation of the nearest safety / essential equipment, and how how high is the water level, mama?
They are scratching around the edges, but getting into a deep detailed engineering evaluation. More like a token to say they looked at it.
