I see solutions all the time.
The technology that puts the big square
styrofoam in the box your TV came in
only needs a small change of tooling
to produce a weatherproof, floatable,
heat-insulated single-person home
for less than a dollar each.
A new alpha-particle powered
nuclear microbattery now exists
which would last 50 years each
without recharging, enabling
communications, light
and heat for the styrofoam modules,
for about 60% of the lifetime
of each user, should they choose
to maintain residence.
The technology used to build
open overhead parking lots
needs very little retooling
to create open communities of
the styrofoam houses,
in a semi-weatherized environment
extending their utility,
partially covered, or even
heated with infrared glowpipes
attached to the underside
of the overhead concrete,
such glow pipes, powered by propane,
now heat vast areas in Home Depots
and Walmarts for a pittance.
24-7 overhead surveillance cameras
will make peace
holding activities easy,
with any incident viewable, and thus judgeable
instantly, by empowered peace cadres.
But nobody wants to do it.
The red staters want MacMansions,
and the blue staters want Volvos
and great enviro-vacations overseas,
so we just let everybody rot
as usual
