The new bridge has been open for 6 months. I thought we would be in traffic heaven. The name of the problem is malfunction junction. They built the new bridge about a half mile south of the old bridge. Obviously they didn’t do a proper traffic study. During peak traffic time, basically lesser all the time, we got terrible traffic jams basically for four miles out from the new bridge on all roads. We always had slow traffic here. But it’s now magnitudes worst than its ever been. Them poor downtown businesses. I guess we are resigned to the poor traffic conditions in downtown Brattleboro for the next 100 years. The old bridge was built in 1921. What a different world then. Gets you wondering, where will this area be in a 100 years?
Update Oct 7
I was able to drive my car up on the bridge. I was the first civilian to drive on this new bridge.
Update: Sept 11
I rode my bike across the bridge. I am the first person to cross the bridge on a bike or E bike ever. Amazing progress in the last month.
I created the opportunity to build this bridge by getting involved.
Last winter I was the first civilian to walk half way an across the new bridge. The rest was not completed yet.
Yesterday I was the first civilian to walk all the way across the bridge. Did a spectacular little illegal hike across the new bridge, hiked down and across the old bridges, then back to the Stark bridge. I was the first civilian to finish this little route.
