HINSDALE, N.H. >> An undercover operation by the Hinsdale Police Department this week led to the arrest of a woman allegedly linked to a previous crime.

Cassy Short, 24, of Hinsdale, was arrested for disposing of stolen property on Wednesday after the police conducted an operation to purchase an item taken from a Northfield Road residence in November. The Chesterfield Police assisted in the operation.

Short was arraigned before the 8th Circuit Court Keene District on the new charge and was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail. Her vehicle was seized pending a search warrant application.

According to Hinsdale Police Chief Todd Faulkner, his department on Nov. 5 started an investigation regarding a burglary at 221 Northfield Road. On Nov. 19, Short was arrested for conspiracy to commit burglary as a result of the investigation. She was arraigned in November and was out on bail at the time of this new alleged offense.

Faulkner told the Reformer he coordinated the rendezvous with Short and had an individual he didn't want to name act as an interested buyer. He said uniformed officers made the arrest after the transaction was finished and Chesterfield officers assisted because Faulkner had no way of knowing how many people would be involved in the transaction.

Drug addiction is a growing problem in the area and Faulkner said it is often at the core of burglaries and similar crimes
